Big EuroMillions Win and a Baby in the Same Week
Natalie Metcalf and Andrew Symes from Thornberry in Gloucestershire, England, had a double celebration earlier this month. Having her baby was expected but a big EuroMillions win most definitely wasn’t.February was always going to be a special month for the 37-year-old with a baby due. It got off to a brilliant start though, when she landed a £1m EuroMillions win in the February 1 draw.
"We're rich, we're rich"
The following day, Natalie was dancing around her living room singing: “We’re rich, we’re rich!” It wasn’t the lottery win that had caused joy, she’d just got some money from selling a pushchair so they could upgrade to a double buggy.Soon after though, she was even richer. Her fiancé Andrew Symes, 40, was
checking the EuroMillions results and discovered their £1m EuroMillions win. He joked to his partner, “Yes, yes, you are!”The celebrations were only just starting for the couple, who already have a two-year-old son. Their amazing week continued to get better and better. The following day, while they were out looking for a new home to buy, Natalie went into labour. In the early hours of February 5, she gave birth to daughter Poppy and for Andrew that totally eclipsed their £1m EuroMillions win.
Double celebration
The delighted father, who works in payroll for a pension firm, declared: “As soon as Natalie went into labour, all thoughts of our win went completely out of our minds.” Only when mother and daughter were back home safe, did they consider what to do with their winnings. Those plans include continuing their search for a “perfect home.” Natalie had always joked the only way they could afford to buy their own home was if they won the lottery. “We didn’t know that would prove to be true!” the EuroMillions winner joked. There won’t be any mortgage to worry about thanks to their win. The couple, who have been engaged for two years, can also start planning a dream wedding.
