Better Times Ahead for £66,666 Postcode Lottery Winners
Tommy Gilmour and Aileen Suter from Balloch in Dunbartonshire, Scotland have both had a troubled few years. Their luck has changed after both won a £66,666 Postcode Lottery prize.
Cheating Death…twice!
In October 2023, Tommy Glimour had minor surgery that ran into problems and he was placed in an induced coma. Then just two months ago he sustained a shattered left wrist and a fractured knee when being knocked down by a bus.
In the past he’s also broken his back and a wrist. Now he’s won a £66,666 Postcode Lottery prize and says: “Hopefully now this is the start of something good."
The retired senior ranger still has his left arm in a sling and it’s expected to take six months for him to heal. Englishman John Lingard won £500,000 playing Thunderball a year after he had brain surgery.
His December accident could have seen him lose his left arm but his steel-plated watch prevented a more serious injury. His judo training allowed him to do a break fall.
Plans for the Postcode Lottery winnings include a holiday (possibly in Turkey or on a Greek island), helping their children and grandchildren and buying a new car.
Bittersweet win
Also winning £66,666 is retiree Aileen Suter who says her winnings will be placed in her “fun fund” that’s there to help complete her bucket list. The great-grandmother says it’s a great win but a bittersweet one too. That’s just how a $70 million Lotto Max winner described his success.
Her husband Tommy passed away in January 2024. They had been married for 41 years and had always spoken of going to the Glastonbury Festival, and Australia.
Now thanks to this Postcode Lottery win, Aileen can go on her bucket list trips. That will include going scuba-diving in the Great Barrier Reef.
Aileen described Tommy as her “soulmate” and feels as if he’s still “looking out” for her. Before the bucket list trips, the Postcode Lottery winner wants to give her “fabulous family” a big treat. That’s in thanks for the support they’ve given her in the past few “horrible” years.
