A group of co-workers from Perth in Western Australia have won a huge $4.2 million Saturday Lotto prize at the best possible time.The syndicate, which has 15 members, has been running for more than 10 years, but more than half of the group were made redundant not long ago, meaning that the lottery success could not have come at a better time. An Irish Lotto winner took home €200,000 on a scratch card not long after being made redundant. The syndicate coordinator told lottery officials that she wasn’t hopeful when she heard that a winning ticket had been sold for last weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw, even though it had been sold at the Flinders Square Lucky Lotto store in Yokine, the same store that their ticket had been purchased from.Earlier this year another Perth syndicate split a Saturday Lotto prize, while a Western Australian syndicate split over $1 million in the WA Lotto. The syndicate organiser explained that she was feeling envious of “those lucky buggers,” when she heard about the win, but soon she realised that she was indeed one of the “lucky buggers” herself. “It wasn’t until I checked my ticket in-store that I realised we were the lucky buggers,” she said.With their ticket which matched the winning numbers in the Saturday Lotto drawing on May 20th, 10, 11, 33, 6, 29 and 15 plus supplementary numbers 5 and 25, the group share $4,214,068.62 between them, which will work out to almost $285,000 each. One of the winners told lottery officials that after being made redundant, finances were starting to be stretched further than ever before.
