Power Pack Claim $731.1m Powerball Jackpot

The winners of a $731.1m Powerball jackpot have finally come forward. A group of winners from Maryland, USA, known as ‘The Power Pack’ has finally been claimed their great win from the January 20 draw. 

It’s been just over four months since their fantastic prize was won. It’s the largest ever lottery win in the state of Maryland and the fourth-highest Powerball jackpot. The winning ticket was purchased from the Coney Market in Lonaconing in Western Maryland.  The store has received a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning Powerball ticket.

The winners have asked to remain anonymous but nicknamed themselves, ‘The Power Pack.’ Their purchasing power has certainly increased after this Powerball windfall. They have opted to accept their winnings as a one-off lump sum payment. That works out as $546.8m and after state and federal taxes received $366.6m.

Seeing that your ticket has won the jackpot is always hard to believe. That was the case with this Powerball jackpot win. The person who made the incredible purchase said that they had to check their ticket around six times. 

Disbelief

Once they had convinced themselves the ticket was the jackpot winning one, the news was told to the rest of the group. There was still an element of disbelief though declaring: “This can’t be right, I’m going to work,” and that’s just what he did! 

The numbers that made them multi-millionaires were 40-53-60-68-69 and the Powerball 22. They didn’t use their own numbers. It’s likely the lack of numbers suited for those using birthdays and anniversaries explains why they were the only winners in the draw.

Sensible Spending Plans

The Power Pack have given some details of how they will use their Powerball winnings.  There’s no mention of new homes or cars. Instead, they said that despite their Powerball jackpot win, they have no plans to change their lifestyle. Investments are going to be made and they will take care of their families. Also planned is helping their communities “for generations to come.”

Will history repeat itself and Maryland win another Powerball jackpot this year. The next draw is on Saturday 29 May with a jackpot of $253m.
