Archbishop Off to Las Vegas after Postcode Lottery Win

An Archbishop from Brighton in West Sussex, England, is planning a trip to Las Vegas. He can certainly afford that after winning a £266.666 Postcode Lottery prize.

Father Jerome Lloyd is the Titular Archbishop of Selsey and it seems all his prayers have been answered with this big win. The 46-year-old was one of 255 residents in Roundhill Crescent, Brighton who shared a £3.3 million prize in the Postcode Lottery draw held on January 28.

This isn’t the first Postcode Lottery win for Roundhill Crescent. Last May the archbishop won £1,000 but never dreamed a much larger win would come along just eight months later.

The Archbishop wants to use some of his winnings to help restore a chapel. Not one in Brighton though, this is in the Philippines. Other projects more local to the south coast city will also be helped out.

Dream becomes a reality

Speaking about his windfall, Father Jerome said: “This feels incredible. I’m completely shocked, it’s just absolutely amazing.” His big win comes just a month after a conversation with friends discussing how great it would be to go to Las Vegas. “Now I can make that dream a reality,” said the Postcode Lottery winner.

It’s not all about gambling though. He wants to visit the Grand Canyon and see some of the shows that are staged on the Vegas Strip. Seeing he’ll be going to the US, he also fancies a trip to New Orleans.

Helping charities is something close to his heart. That’s a key reason why he plays the Postcode Lottery. “I really liked the idea of giving back on a big scale,” said Father Jerome.

Driving lessons

He also plans to treat himself with some driving lessons and when his test is passed, he can buy a new car.

The draw has also raised £2,000 for the Brighton and Hove Food Partnership. This will help them turn Stanmer Wellbeing Gardens into a community outdoor kitchen. It will also be a therapeutic social space
