Another Lotto Max Jackpot Win for Ontario

It’s been a profitable time to play the Lotto Max draw in Ontario,Canada. August 19 saw a player win the $70 million jackpot.

Amazingly, it’s the fifth Lotto Max jackpot won in the province since April with $335 million won. The jackpot winning ticket was purchased in the Timiskaming-Cochrane area which is in northeastern Ontario. The latest lucky winner has yet to claim their prize.

It’s not just in Ontario where the big wins are happening. A syndicate of 15 workers at Foy’s Irish Bar in East Vancouver are celebrating a $1 million Lotto Max win.

Feels like a dream

Their success came in the August 16 draw with each receiving around $67,000.  The Lotto Max syndicate is run by James Browne who is the general manager of the bar. He said that winning this Lotto Max prize “just feels all like a dream.”

Another of the syndicate members is Steven Foy who owns the bar. He plans on using his share of the winnings to help renovate the venue that opened 10 months ago.

Mr Foy seems to be a lucky player. He’s also had some wins betting on sport. Some of that money went towards funding his new bar. He joked: “That's why people are saying it's a lucky bar. It's the luck of the Irish."

Back Home

All but two of the syndicate members are Irish. Several of them knew exactly how they wanted to use some of their winnings. “The No 1 thing that everyone said when they won was, ‘I can’t wait to go home, visit my family,” said the bar manager.

There’s already been one big celebration held at the bar. Another one is on its way soon. Will any of the winners be quitting their jobs though? A couple from Ontario  won a $55 million Lotto Max jackpot and instantly retired.

James Browne said that the winners can take as much time on holiday as “they all deserve it.” He added that the win has “brought us closer” so the team is likely to stay together.
