Change of Lottery Game Produces $1 million Win
Five co-workers from Brampton in Toronto, Canada, won a $1 million prize on December 31. Their win came after deciding to play the Instant Ultimate lottery game.
The five lucky winners are Carlo Anania, Andrea Pimental, Melanie Cabrai, Elizabeth Pedro and Giacomo Giammarco. All five work in the facilities industry.
They’ve been playing the lottery “for a while” but without a great deal of luck. Sometimes it pays to change the game you enter and that’s just what this syndicate did.
It was Elizabeth who came up with the idea of switching to the Instant Ultimate game, so they each paid $20 to buy a ticket. That shows how being a syndicate member can allow dearer tickets to be purchased.
Perfect start to a new year
With it being New Year’s Eve, no one checked the lottery results that night. The following day it was Melanie’s husband who was the first to find out about their big win. They were checking the results on New Year’s Day when he suddenly told his wife, “You’ve won.” What better way to start a new year!
Cabrai contacted Pedro to tell him their great news. He admits that his first thought was that a prank was being played on him. When Giammarco received a call from Melanie, he thought she’d just be wishing him a Happy New Year.
Now they can enjoy a totally different 2023 from the one that they were expecting. The lottery winners have been busy working out how to spend their $200,000 share of the prize.
Spending plans revealed
Anania says that the lottery “feels great.” He wants to use his share to help his family and retirement. Giammarco is also being sensible with his lottery win and wants to invest his share.
Pimental is going to get some bills paid off, then help her family. Giving herself a special treat is also planned. It’s a similar situation for Pedro and Caral who want to get their mortgages paid off before spoiling themselves rotten.
