Advice from Mother Helps Son Win £1 million Lotto Prize
Listening to your mother is always a good idea. It certainly worked for Robert Cameron from Glasgow in Scotland. He won a £1 million prize in the July 30 Lotto draw.
The 53-year-old had been a regular Lotto player but not in the past year or so. Then he saw news of the £195.7 million EuroMillions win and he wondered if he could one day get a big win too.
While shopping in Asda, he had £4 in change so decided to buy a EuroMillions ticket. That produced a win but only one of £3.70. Robert had a chuckle to himself and thought that’s probably all he’ll ever win.
Then he remembered what his late mother had once told him. Her advice was that “a win leads to a win.” Therefore, he decided that his £3.70 would be put towards purchasing two Lucky Dips for the July 30 Lotto draw.
No purchase
By Saturday evening he still hadn’t bought those tickets. He wouldn’t have done so if his youngest son hadn’t asked him to give him a lift home. He checked the Lotto results the following morning and saw a congratulations message on his app.
At first, he believed his win was £1,000 but a second look revealed it was £1 million. In shock at this discovery, he googled the Lotto results to confirm he’d matched five of the main numbers and the bonus ball.
Long wait
There was a wait before he could call Camelot and confirm his win. When doing so he was asked to wait a minute. Not surprisingly he calls that wait the longest minute ever.
Considered a bit of a joker, it was a tough task getting his family to believe he’d won £1 million, It took him half an hour to convince his youngest son of the win. The Scotsman now plans to use his Lotto winnings to buy a house, go on holiday and then get a Range Rover but plans to be “thoughtful” with his windfall.
