Accidental Double Postcode Lottery Purchase Wins £250,000
Some mistakes can be costly, others can be the exact opposite. Elise from Telford in Shropshire, England, won a £250,000 Postcode Lottery prize after accidentally buying two tickets.
Elise began playing the Postcode Lottery last December. Only one ticket was supposed to be purchased but she ended up getting two instead. It took her a while to finally get around to cancelling one of them. However, it was still valid for the recent draw and saw her win doubled to £250,000.
Guardian angel
The mobile barber sadly lost her father in 2023. Her belief is that he’s now her “guardian angel” and helped her win the Postcode Lottery. Tracy from Heald Green won a £100,000 Postcode Lottery prize soon after her father died.
Plans for her winnings include a new car and her first holiday in a decade with Greece or Benidorm being possible destinations. Such is her desire to take a break, she joked: “Even Wales would be fine.”
Another of the Telford Postcode Lottery winners is James. The father-of-two only had one ticket but is delighted with his £125,000 win. He and his wife Sally hope their win will help them move to a larger home now that they have children.
A trip to “anywhere that’s warm” is also on Sally’s wishlist. Above everything, the Postcode Lottery winner said that the win means being able to “do things we want to do now.”
Just who is Vera?
Civil servant Tony also won £125,000 just five months after starting to play the lottery. He now wants to convert ‘Vera.’ That’s not his partner but his grey VW Transporter T6.1 that he named after his favourite TV detective.
He planned on converting the van three years ago but didn’t get around to it. Tony can now afford to install a pop-up roof, solar panels and a kitchen. He retires in 2027 and the improved van will take him and his wife, Lisa on retirement “adventures.”
That will include trips to the Amalfi Coast and County Kerry in Ireland. He’ll also help his pregnant daughter.
