A Taste of Honey for £1 million EuroMillions Winners
Winning a £1 million EuroMillions prize has definitely changed the lives of Jeff and Davinia Pritchard. The English couple have been able to spend more time on their hobby and that’s good news if you’re a bee.
The couple have been busy since their EuroMillions win in 2015. Being able to spend more time looking after and caring for the local bee population. That’s seen them adding to their beehive collection
When their EuroMillions win came along, both of the lucky players had full-time jobs. Davina was a coordinator for the Welsh Ambulance Service and Jeff worked as a works manager.
Saving up for their retirement was a struggle until they became millionaires. Their fear was that at some point in the future they’d have to sell their home to ensure a comfortable retirement.
Retirement
Jeff was a regular player of the EuroMillions lottery but had never won more than £95. Their EuroMillions success allowed them to retire from their jobs. Their working days were not over though as they started a beekeeping business. Now their business is growing and lots of locally grown honey is being produced.
Speaking about their business, Jeff, 60, said: “I’ve always loved being outdoors with my bees, and our win made that easier to do.”
Shortly before their EuroMillions win, they had bought a cottage. Thanks to their £1 million win, they’ve been able to pay off the mortgage on their home. Renovation work was carried out and that helped them provide more space for when their family came to visit.
Utterly priceless
Having the cottage was also important for them during the pandemic. Davinia, 58, commented that “being able to come home here to recharge and forget the day was utterly priceless.” Will they enter the June 7 EuroMillions Superdraw?
It’s not just about beekeeping for Davinia in the past few years. The EuroMillions winner was able to afford to pay for professional help to lose weight for an important project. That saw her climb Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales.
