$60m Australian Powerball Winner to Help Charities

Powerball draws often have massive jackpots wherever they are played. A woman from Victoria won a $60 million Australian Powerball jackpot on October 5. That’s not quite as high as the $1.73 billion in tomorrow’s American Powerball draw.

The lucky Australian player says that her win won’t just change her life. The Australian Powerball winner wants to use some of her $60 million to help charities that she is a keen supporter of.

Dumbfounded

Her win is the second-largest lottery success in Australia this year. Lottery officials tried to contact her but it took a while before they could speak to her. The winner was aware of the jackpot success but her husband accidentally hung up on the lottery officials as he was in a bit of a state at the time. After telling her husband he was “walking around dumbfounded.”

Special numbers

Often players do decide to use numbers that have special meanings to them. That can produce wins but not so easily if high numbers are drawn. The winning numbers in this draw were: 03-04-.08-11-14-19-22 and the vital Powerball 05. All fairly low numbers so ideal for those using birthdays and anniversaries which was the case for this winner.

The Australian Powerball jackpot winner explained: “They’re all special to me. Those numbers are family and friends' birthdays that I always play.” Now they are even more special after this $60 million.

Giving up work is out of the question for her as she recently retired. One key way of using her amazing windfall is to help her favourite charities. This especially includes those who help disadvantaged children. “This prize will help a lot of people out, it’s my main goal,” the generous Australian Powerball winner said.

It’s been a big year for Australian lottery winners. There have been 13 Australian Powerball division one winners winning over $450 million. New South Wales seems to be the luckiest state to play in. They account for six of the winners. This is the third division one winning entry in Victoria.
