£58m EuroMillions Win Finally Claimed

The holder of a £58m EuroMillions jackpot winning ticket has finally claimed their fantastic prize.

The winning ticket was purchased in South Ayrshire, Scotland and won the jackpot in the draw. In all, the ticket is worth £57,879,670 but the jackpot could easily have been lost. It was due to expire at midnight on Sunday.

Just in Time

The clock was ticking down to that expiry date but then the lucky winner finally claimed their EuroMillions jackpot. Players have 180 days to make their claim and after that date, any winnings will be handed to good causes. That horrible situation occurred in 2012 when a £65m winning ticket purchased in Hertfordshire, England went unclaimed.

2018 saw £125m in lottery wins go unclaimed. Many of those were UK Millionaire Maker code wins that were probably left unchecked by the ticket owners.

Thankfully, this time that didn’t happen. A Camelot spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that we are currently finalising the validation of a claim made on this prize and are in the process of arranging for payment to be made to the ticket-holder.”

Just who is the winner?

Until that process has been completed, there will be no further updates. This means we don’t know if the EuroMillions jackpot winner will remain anonymous or reveal their identity. Look out for updates on this site if more information about this brilliant win does become known.

What we do know is that the win came just before the country went into lockdown. Just imagine spending all that time with a ticket that was worth over £58m.

The winning numbers in the March 17 draw were: 05-07-08-16-20 and the two Lucky Stars 02 and 12.

Another Scottish Success

It’s another great EuroMillions success for Scotland. Not quite as high as the £161m EuroMillions jackpot that was won by Christine and the late Colin Weir back in 2011 but a great win, nonetheless.
