$40 million Lotto Max Winner to Help Others

Elizabeth Trafford from Fergus in Ontario, Canada won $40 million in the December 10 Lotto Max draw. The lucky player now intends using some of her win to help others, especially her son.

The first of the tickets she checked wasn’t a winner. It was a different story for the second one and Elizabeth joked that it “blew up the machine and all I saw was ‘Big Winner!’  After a chat with a lottery representative, her $40 million win was confirmed.

Such was the shock of her amazing discovery, the Lotto Max winner admits she started to “hyperventilate.”

Not a joke

Once she’d calmed down a little, a phone call was made to her son. At first he didn’t believe what his mother was saying. “It took a few minutes for him to understand this was not a joke,” said his parent. Her son and his wife then got in their car and drove to Fergus for a family celebration.

When going to lottery HQ to claim her prize, she was shown her updated bank account and the tears began to flow. It’s the latest big win for Ontario after  a $70 million Lotto Max success last August.

Steward

The Lotto Max won’t just help Elizabeth but other people too as well as her son of course… Speaking about what will be done with her winnings, she said: “I see myself as a steward for this money” and added that she plans to “give back in a meaningful way.”

As for herself, this $40 million win will help her to go travelling to “exotic places.” It's a great thought that “I can actually do that now,” said the delighted Lotto Max winner. A recent $2 million Saturday Lotto winner  also can’t wait to go travelling.

Her winning Lotto Max ticket was bought at Blinkhorn’s Corner Variety in Fergus. It’s owned by Rob Blinkhorn who said the previous largest winning ticket he’d sold was for $100,000 and added he’s delighted a regular customer is the winner.
