$40 Million Lotto Max Winner Couldn't Get Out of Bed to Celebrate

Bernard White from Oshawa in Canada simply went back to sleep despite being told he’d won a $40,000 lottery prize. Later though, it was revealed that he had actually won a $40 million Lotto Max jackpot but he couldn’t jump out of bed to celebrate.

His amazing win came in the  draw held on February 21. The day after the Lotto Max draw, his daughter was up early getting ready for work. Then she checked the results and quickly woke up her father to tell him he’d won $40,000.

The 79-year-old was still half asleep and replied; “That’s great!”  However, more good news was on its way. A few minutes later, his daughter woke him up again and this time revealed that after another look, his win was actually $40 million.  £61 million EuroMillions winners, Richard and Debbie Nuttall  at first thought they had won £2.60.

Still though, he couldn’t get out of bed because he sleeps without any clothes on. He joked; “I would’ve hit the ceiling if I’d had underwear on.”

His daughter still went to work but couldn’t concentrate and left early. Then she and her father went to the store where the Lotto Max ticket had been purchased. They checked the ticket and it “lit up like a Christmas tree!” It had indeed won $40 million.

To try and calm himself down, the Lotto Max winner went on a “nice, long drive.”  For a $2.5 million Saturday Lotto winner, a cup of coffee did the trick.  Bernard then  went to see his long-term partner but being a bit of a prankster, she initially refused to believe he had won $40 million.

“I  now plan to live life to the fullest and have fun!” said the 79-year-old.  White plans to buy a new fishing rod, buy some expensive speakers and go on a cruise around Newfoundland, the place of his birth.  

His beloved daughter and other siblings will be helped out. Some charitable donations will also be made.
