$374 million Mega Millions Jackpot on Tuesday

Over three months have passed since the Mega Millions jackpot has been won. Six years ago, Shane Missler from Florida, USA, won a $451 million jackpot at the age of just 20.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions draw has a $374 million jackpot. The last jackpot win was on June 4 when  a ticket sold in Illinois, USA, won $552 million on the Mega Millions.  That was only the second time the top prize has been won. March saw a New Jersey ticket win a $1.13  billion jackpot.

Will August see another jackpot won? Last year there were two Mega Millions top prizes won, including one of $1.602 billion.

Lucky feeling

Do you ever get a lucky feeling a win is just around the corner?  That’s what Shane Missler said he had just before his big win.

He  was only aged 20  when winning  his Mega Millions jackpot. He accepted his win as a one-off payment of $282 million. After payment of taxes he was left with $211.5 million.

It didn’t take him long to realize that he’d won the Mega Millions jackpot. Only around 30 minutes had passed before he made his amazing discovery. He immediately went onto Facebook and posted: “Oh, my God.”

When claiming his Mega Millions win, he said that his intention was to use it to “pursue a variety of passions” and “do some good for humanity.”

Very early retirement

Although he was only 20-years-old, the lucky player retired from his job. He even took a quick course teaching himself how to manage personal finances.

There were a few problems after his big win. Fake accounts appeared on social media claiming he’d give $5,000 to the first 50,000 people retweeting his message.

That was totally fake though which was pretty obvious. He’d have given away $250 million which is more than he actually won. Missler had to release a statement confirming his real Twitter and Instagram accounts.

At present the Mega Millions jackpot is the highest that can be won. Will Tuesday see the top prize won?
