$35 million Lotto Max Winner Thanks Dragonfly for Success

Gary Hill from Kamloops in British Columbia says “I’m not on this planet” after his $35 million Lotto Max jackpot win. His incredible luck occurred in the June 22 draw but he’s finding it hard to accept he’s a multi-millionaire.

His winning Lotto Max ticket was purchased from McGoo's Smokes N Stuffin the North Shore area of Kamloops. He’s a regular player but usually gets his tickets from gas stations but without success.

The day after the draw, his mother suggested her son check his ticket as there was news of a local jackpot winner. Gary checked his ticket and got the biggest surprise of his life.

Shock of his Life

“That's my numbers and I had to read it again, and then my legs went like spaghetti, and I grabbed the wall," said the Lotto Max winner. "I fell on the bed, and I actually cried for 15 minutes,” he added. Immediately he got on the phone to his mother to tell her his incredible news.

He believes that a couple of appearances by a dragonfly may have been a lucky omen for him. “I had to stop and say, ‘Hey dragonfly, you’re back. Why are you here?””

The Lotto Max winner took a couple of weeks before claiming his jackpot win. His winning numbers were: 07-11-22-28-33-44-49 and he’s been using them for the past two years.

Speechless

The 61-year-old was one of two players that shared the $70 million top prize. When presented with his winning cheque, it was almost impossible for him to make a speech: “ I am speechless right now. I thought I had a whole bunch of things to say, but my words are not coming out," said the Lotto Max jackpot winner.  The shocked player added: “I'm not on this planet — my body's here but the rest of my body is drifting in space."

Plans for his Lotto Max winnings include buying a house and when possible, travelling to Denmark. The other winning ticket was sold in Ontario, but the winner is yet to come forward.
