$30m Oz Lotto Win Described as “Surreal”
A man from Killara in New South Wales, Australia, can’t believe he won $30 million in the October 18 Oz Lotto draw. After all, he only usually wins small amounts, not millions of dollars.
His ticket was the only division one winning entry in the Oz Lotto draw. Not having registered his ticket, the lottery company had to wait for the lucky player to come forward and claim his prize.
Over the moon
“Oh wow, wow” he kept saying when talking to lottery officials. . “This is so surreal. I’m over the moon! “I’m honestly in so much shock. I don’t know what to say,” he added.
He recalled the moment his $30 million Oz Lotto win was discovered. “I thought I’d check the numbers on my ticket quickly and got the shock of his life.
It’s a win that wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t finally returned to Australia. His work had taken him out of the country and he’d been unable to buy tickets.
On his return he was finally able to play the Oz Lotto again and it led to his $30 million win. It’s not his first lottery win but by far the largest. “I usually only ever win $17 – nothing significant. This is significant!” said the jackpot winner.
His winning numbers were: 14-18-21-23-33-39-46 and the supplementary numbers 28,37 and 41,
Time to retire
He had planned to continue his job travelling around the world but not anymore. “I honestly think I might just stay here and retire. “Australia is my home!”
His winning Oz Lotto ticket was bought from the Lindfield Newsagency. It's owned by Constatine Mastrantonas who said selling the winning ticket is “unreal.” He’d been thinking that it “was about time” that his store sold another division one winning ticket after a gap of a few years.
He’s already spoken to the $30 million Oz Lotto winner and is delighted a local customer won the jackpot. “A big congratulations to the winning man and we wish him all the best with his prize!” said the store owner.
