$256 million Powerball Jackpot Won, Will Mega Millions be Next?
December has already seen a $256 million Powerball jackpot being landed. Will tonight’s Mega Millions draw see the massive $619 million jackpot be won?
Nine jackpot wins
It was last Saturday when a ticket sold in New York won the $256 million jackpot. It’s the ninth time this year the top prize in the Powerball draw has been won. That makes it the most successful year since 2018.
Each of the wins has seen a different US state sell the winning ticket. It was the first time since 2020 that a ticket sold in New York had won the top prize. Perhaps the Powerball winner will set up a foundation as several others have in the past.
Still no Mega Millions winner
While there have been nine Powerball jackpot wins this year, the Mega Millions top prize has only been won on three occasions in 2024.
The last big win was in September when a ticket sold in Texas won $810 million. That’s not the largest Mega Millions win of the year though. In January a ticket purchased in New Jersey won a $1.128 billion jackpot. The other jackpot win was a big one too with $552 million being won in June.
Will we see a Mega Millions jackpot win in December? There was one last year, the first December jackpot since 2019. Three times the Mega Millions jackpot has been won in successive Decembers so we could see the top prize won this month.
What numbers could make you a multi-millionaire? There’s been no single-digit main ball numbers in the last two draws. As for those between 40 and 49, just two of the last eight Mega Millions draws have seen numbers in that range make an appearance.
Those between 50 and 59 have come up once in the last five draws. As for the 60s, they’ve only appeared in one of the last four draws and when they did there were four of them.
The Mega Millions jackpot has never been won on December 10. Will history be made this evening?
