$2.5 million Saturday Lotto Winner Buys Car for Parents
Many lottery winners want to help their parents when a big lottery win comes along. That’s been so with a man from North Strathfield in Australia after a $2.5 million Saturday Lotto win.
The New South Wales resident had purchased one of eight tickets that were division one winners in the August 31 draw.
He hadn’t registered his Saturday Lotto ticket so organisers had no idea who had won the $2.5 million.
The lucky player didn’t see the draw live and it wasn’t until three days afterwards that he checked his Saturday Lotto ticket.
Panic time
The store employee scanned the ticket and said that a visit to the head office was required. “I started to panic,” said the Saturday Lotto winner and added that he “was so confused.”
Immediately he went to the head office and then he was told the incredible news of his $2.5 million win. No wonder the Saturday Lotto winner said that everything feels “a bit surreal” and that he’s “still in shock.”
Last year a newly-formed syndicate in New South Wales won a $1.7 million Saturday Lotto prize.
“Such a good surprise”
He has asked to remain anonymous and isn’t sure just who he should tell of his win. His parents will soon find out though as he has already bought them a new car. “It will be such a good surprise,” said the Saturday Lotto winner.
He’d wanted one of his own for a while but after this win, he generously decided to buy them one too.
Leading up to the draw, he had some time on his hands so bought his winning ticket from the North Strathfield Newsagency.
It's owned by Rui Chen who is delighted that a ticket sold at his store won a share of the Saturday Lotto jackpot.
Since hearing the news the store has been decorated with division one posters. “Our customers have been congratulating us and expressing their hope of winning division one in our store next time,” said the store owner.
