IRISH LOTTO RETAILER CELEBRATED SELLING WINNING TICKET AFTER 28-YEAR HIATUS
A store in Donegal, Ireland, is celebrating selling a winning Irish Lotto ticket after 28 years of not selling any big value tickets. The store, in north Donegal in the countryside, last sold two winning Irish Lotto tickets in the space of three weeks, all the way back in 1990 – 28 years ago! Now, however, the Eurospar store in Newtown Cunningham, just outside of Derry City, has sold a Match 5 + Bonus Irish Lotto ticket for last Saturday night’s drawing. A syndicate of colleagues from Co Donegal recently won €4.9 million on the Irish Lotto. The April 21st ticket was worth a total of €284,964, and the store owner said that he was delighted to have come to an end of their long wait. “We’re a very lucky Lotto shop but we’ve had a wee bit of a wait since our last big jackpot wins in 1990,” said Anthony Kernan, Eurospar shop owner. A lottery store in Co Laois in Ireland recently sold another big winning lottery ticket worth €30,000, while a store in New York was proven to be a lucky retailer after a group of friends won $106 million on a Mega Millions ticket purchased there. The store actually has quite a lot of history to it, with Mr Kernan explaining that his store sold the very first Irish Lotto jackpot winnings ticket for a Wednesday night drawing. “One of our customers won the £367,000 prize in May 1990,” he said. “Incredibly, we had another winning Lotto ticket just three weeks later when we sold a ticket worth £141,000.”The Irish Lotto prize on Saturday, 21st April was worth a total of €5.4 million, but the winning ticket sold in Donegal was a second-tier prize, with nobody having yet come forward to claim it, although when they do they might decide to stay anonymous, like a Co Kerry Irish Lotto winnings couple. Lottery officials said that there were 71,000 players with assorted winning tickets from last weekend’s Irish Lotto drawing and are therefore encouraging all players to check their tickets. Not long ago an Irish Lotto jackpot winner kept her €5.4 million ticket hidden in her sports bra!“Good things certainly come to those who wait so we are absolutely thrilled that somebody in the locality has picked up such a large Lotto prize,” said Mr Kernan. You too could become next big winner, so purchase your tickets online at Lottery24.com.
