A hospital cleaner from Sheffield in England is celebrating after winning £1m in the EuroMillions draw held on Friday March 27. Andrew Perkins, 25, who currently lives with his parents, is now promising to buy his parents a new home.Perkins, who is a lifelong fan of Sheffield Wednesday Football club, purchased his winning EuroMillions ticket from a WH Smith store in Meadowhall. He only realised that he had won over £1m in the draw when he checked his ticket the following morning.He'd just woken up and was making a cup of coffee and then logged onto his computer. He couldn't believe it when he saw that his raffle code was a £1m winner. Shocked at his win, Andrew asked his fiancé, Christina Maher, 32, to make sure his eyes weren't playing tricks on him. Christina entered the code into the online checker and a congratulations message came up on the screen leaving them both speechless.Next to hear the amazing news of his EuroMillions win were his parents. They were out shopping at the time so the lucky winner decided to give them a call. "My mum answered the phone and I said, 'I've won one million pounds.' My mum responded, 'I don't believe you' and I said 'I swear I've won one million pounds on EuroMillions.'"His shocked and disbelieving parents rushed back home to see what was going on. Only when the lucky winner called the National Lottery to confrm his win did they finally believe that their son really had won £1m.Perkins follows in the footsteps of the syndicate of cleaning ladies who also recently won £1m playing EuroMillions. As well as buying a new house for himself and one for his parents, Andrew will purchase some new accessories for his Nikon camera. Also planned is a trip to Canada, which will be the first time the EuroMillions winner has ever travelled abroad. Perhaps inevitably he's also planning on buying a Sheffield Wednesday season ticket.The lucky winner said: “The win has given me peace of mind.
