$20 Found on Floor Leads to $1 million Lottery Win
You certainly need a slice of luck to get a big lottery win. Sometimes it takes more than one lucky moment, just ask Jerry Hicks from North Carolina, USA, who recently won a $1 million prize.
What’s on the floor?
HIs triple slice of good luck began when he was out shopping in Banner Elk. The observant master carpenter was in a car park when he found a $20 bill on the floor. That was his first piece of good news but more was to follow.
Mr Hicks decided to use the $20 to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket. He was disappointed when finding out the convenience store he went to didn’t have the game he wanted to play. Rather than waiting for another time, he decided to try his luck on the Extreme Cash lottery game.
In Australia, a syndicate leader bought a ticket for the Saturday Lotto rather than the usual Australian Powerball and won $30 million.
It really was his lucky day as he won $1 million. The lucky lottery player decided to receive his winnings as a one-off lump sum payment. After paying his taxes, he walked away with $429,007.
Plans for his winnings include being able to finally retire after 56 years of being a carpenter. He also wants to help his family. Before all of that though he was off for a celebratory meal to “eat everything they’ve got.”
Epic jackpot
An even luckier lottery player went online and created a slice of history. The Mooresville resident played the Bison Bonanza game and they won the $1,331,466 Epic Jackpot. He defied odds of 1 in 3.1 million to land his fantastic prize.
It was the first time the jackpot had been won since September 7. On that occasion, the top prize was only $307,493. It returned to $50,000 and kept on climbing until this lucky win. It’s the largest win since digital instants were launched in November 2023. The lucky winner is yet to come forward to claim their winnings.
