$197.5 million Mega Millions Jackpot Finally Claimed
After this week’s EuroMillions jackpot win, the current largest top prize is in tonight’s Mega Millions draw. There’s a $116 million jackpot with players hoping to join the list of big winners.
Jackpot win claimed
That list includes one of the two winners of a $395 Mega MIllions jackpot from last December. F Lahijani has come forward this week to finally claim his $197.5 million. We don’t know if they’ve accepted the win as a one-off lump sum payment ($118 million before taxes) or as an annuity.
It was a special win as both of the jackpot winning tickets were sold at the same Chevron gas station in Encino, California. The other winner has until December to claim their winnings.
More celebrations
In Maryland, USA a player known only as ‘Ping Pong Champ’ recently won a $1 million Mega Millions prize.
The lucky woman’s win came in the June 4 draw. It wasn’t until returning to the gas station in Silver Spring where she’d bought two tickets, that an amazing discovery was made.
Initially, her belief was that $1,000 had been won but a second scan revealed a $1 million win. Another Mega Millions ticket had won $3 and she cashed that out and bought another ticket. Then she returned home without saying anything about her other win.
Plans for her Mega Millions win include buying a townhouse but she plans to carry on working. “Maybe if I win again, I’ll retire,” she joked. Her dream remains winning the “big one” so she will keep playing lotteries.
Also celebrating is Thomas Ensiko from Blackstone in Massachusetts, USA. He won $1 million in the June 11 Mega Millions draw.
Special numbers
He and his wife claimed the win the following day. It must have brought back some good memories for his wife. Over 20 years ago, she won a $1 million scratchcard prize.
The Mega Millions winner said that he’s been playing the same numbers for the past 20 years. They are special to him and even more so now. He wants to help his children and grandchildren with his windfall.
