$15 million Oz Lotto Winner Nearly Had a Heart Attack
A man from Bathhurst in New South Wales, Australia said he nearly had a heart attack when discovering he’d won a $15 million Oz Lotto prize.
The lucky player lives in Bathurst and won his fantastic prize in the Oz Lotto draw held on September 24. His ticket was the only one that was able to match the numbers drawn so he scooped the entire jackpot.
His winning ticket had not been registered so the lottery company had to wait for him to come forward. When he finally did so it was clear that becoming a multi-millionaire had left him in total shock.
“Fifteen million dollars is a lot to wrap my head around,” he told lottery officials and added: “It’s not the sort of money I’ve ever seen in my life.”
It’s the latest big win in New South Wales. A couple changed the game they play and won a $40 million Oz Lotto jackpot.
Recalling the moment when he discovered his Oz Lotto win, the shocked winner said: “I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I seriously didn’t know what to do at that moment. All I remember was that my spine was tingling.”
Whirlwind of emotions
Well, it’s bound to be a bit of a shock suddenly finding out you’ve won $15 million. Since his win he says “it’s been a whirlwind of emotions.”
Helping his family
The Oz Lotto winner now wants to help his family and says that being able to do so “feels great.” His aim is to ensure that his family are “happy and healthy.”
His Oz Lotto ticket was bought from the Wilberforce Newsagency and that’s owned by Allison Griffith. It’s been a long wait for the store to sell a division one winning ticket. “We’ve had the newsagency for 17 years now and this is our first major win,” said the store owner.
The delighted store owner added; “It’s very special to know that we sold someone a life-changing ticket. Congratulations to our winner and we hope you enjoy your prize!”
