£148M EUROMILLIONS WINNER BUYS HOME FOR DISABLED CHILD

£148m EuroMillions winner Gillian Bayford was so moved by Jenny McMillan's fundraising efforts for her disabled son, that she's decided to buy her a new home.Gillian, who won the £148m EuroMillions prize with her former husband Adrian, in 2012, has said she'll pay for any adaptations needed for the house in Carnoustie, Angus in Scotland. Jenny McMillan's four-year-old son, Blake, suffers from a rare and devastating neurological disorder called MECP2 Duplication Syndrome. This means he is unable to roll, walk, talk or sit and requires round-the-clock care. Sadly, he also suffers from an increasing number of seizures.Bayford decided to help the McMillan family after being inspired by Jenny's fundraising and campaigning. That includes running the fundraising store, Blake's Bargains. The store is just two doors from Gillian's property business. One day Jenny came into her business and said she was looking for a house in the area and the EuroMillions winner said she'd keep an eye out for her. A couple of weeks later a suitable property came on the market and her company has offered to pay for the balance of the upgrade required and work that needs to be carried out “as a Christmas present.”The £148m EuroMillions winner contributes to a lot of children's charities and is delighted to be helping someone in her home town, especially as “it's such a wonderful cause.” £13.5m UK Lotto winner Peter Congdon donated £1m to a local charity. Margaret Kelly from Northumberland, England, gave some of her £300,000 National Lottery scratch card winnings to local charities. In the USA, Jack Long won a $60m Powerball jackpot and made several charitable donations.The McMillan family hope to be able to move into their new home in January. It's open plan and therefore more adaptable for Blake's needs. It's also just a short walk from the beach and Jenny believes the move will give her family a new lease of life.In England, £4.8m EuroMillions winner Sue Mullen is helping disadvantaged children this Christmas. The kind gesture by this EuroMillions winner now means that any future donations can go directly towards research into Blake's condition. Speaking about the donation, Jenny said, “I was totally in awe that Gillian would do something like this. I'll be paying rent but Gillian didn't have to do something like this.
