$100m Australian Powerball Win a Slap in the Face
$100m Australian Powerball Win a Slap in the Face
It took a slap of his face to convince a man from Sydney, Australia, that he’d won a $100 million Australian Powerball jackpot.
His win in the June 22 draw is the second largest in Australian Powerball history. Hailing from Bankstown he began to laugh hysterically when told of his incredible win.
There had been five successive Australian Powerball rollovers and that led to the $100 million jackpot. The all-important winning numbers were: 03-04-05-06-14-22-23 and the Powerball 17.
He had purchased a Quickpick ticket for the draw. Even though the numbers were perfect for those using birthdays, not one was his choice. His ticket was registered, so lottery officials were able to contact him. The Australian Powerball winner missed their first call though.
Have you got the right person?
"Are you sure? Have you got the right person?" he said when receiving a call from lottery officials. It’s the first $100 million Australian Powerball jackpot since December of last year. This is the ninth time this year the top prize has been won.
Such was the surprise of hearing he was now a multi-millionaire, he asked: “Can you say this one more time?"
His wife was also in shock at the news of their Australian Powerball win. A sleepless night was on the cards as they made plans for how to use their incredible winnings. Perhaps an argument or two might also take place with big decisions to make.
Working?
The husband said he plans on continuing to work but that shocked his wife. Her view is: “Working? We’re multi-millionaires, now”
Backtracking, he replied: “I need to process this a bit more. Maybe I won’t (work) in the future.”
More agreement seems to be on buying a new house to “set ourselves up for the future.
The only other larger Australian Powerball jackpot win has been the $107 million won by a Western Sydney player four years ago”
