$100 million Australian Powerball Winner Had Feeling She’d Win
A woman from Brisbane won a $100 million Australian Powerball jackpot in the August 22 draw. But was it such a big shock for her?!
The Brisbane resident owned the only division one winning entry in the draw. It’s the largest ever win by a Queensland player but perhaps not a total surprise.
Do you ever get the feeling a big lottery win is on its way? Speaking about her Australian Powerball win, the delighted player said at the start of 2024: “I had a really strange feeling I was going to win a major lottery prize.”
Her parents thought she was crazy when told about the feeling. That didn’t put her off so she began to start playing the Australian Powerball draw. After all, as she remarked: “How am I going to win if I don’t buy a ticket?”
Why not?
With her birthday on the way, she thought to herself ‘Why not?’ and bought an Australian Powerball ticket.
On her way back home she suddenly wondered where her Australian Powerball ticket was. After finding it she put it in her car’s glove compartment never dreaming how much it was going to be worth.
Not being a regular player she then completely forgot buying the ticket just like a recent $2.5 million Saturday Lotto winner.
The mystery winner didn’t see the draw live so went to bed that night not knowing she’d won. The next morning she went for a run and then heard that a local ticket had won the jackpot. Amazingly, it was her ticket that had landed the top prize.
Scared to breathe
Now the shocked winner says that she was “scared to breathe in case this isn’t real.” How will her winnings be used?
“We don’t even know what’s next,” she admitted. After working hard for many years, the Australian Powerball winner doesn’t “live a lavish lifestyle.” Some travelling is planned with New Zealand and Fiji being possible destinations.
Her ticket was bought from Nextra Chermside Newsagency. The store has now sold over $164 million worth of division one tickets.
